Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented International Purchasing Specialist to manage procurement from China and other international vendors. This role requires fluency in Mandarin and expertise in logistics, negotiation, and supplier management. You will play a critical role in ensuring timely, cost-effective, and quality imports for our multi-family construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate with Chinese suppliers via WeChat in Mandarin to negotiate pricing, manage orders, and address issues.
- Oversee end-to-end import logistics, including shipping, customs clearance, and delivery coordination.
- Evaluate and onboard new vendors to improve pricing and product quality.
- Conduct quality control, with occasional travel to China for inspections and relationship building.
- Collaborate with domestic procurement teams to align international and local purchasing strategies.
- Maintain documentation for all international transactions, ensuring compliance with trade regulations.
Qualifications:
- Fluent in Mandarin and English (spoken and written).
- 3+ years of experience in international procurement or supply chain management.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Familiarity with import/export regulations and logistics.
- Experience with construction materials or a related field is a plus.
- Willingness to work evening hours to accommodate time zone differences.
- Travel experience in China is preferred but not mandatory.
